AND THE WINNER IS…….

Lisa Fones of our Title Department won the “Who’s That Baby?” Contest. The baby, on the left, is none other than Dana Cole of Bowie Auto Parts. Dana presented Lisa with the $25 Wawa gift card for winning. Congratulations Lisa!

NEWEST MYSTERY BABY……

Guess who I am,
if you guess the right one
a gift card you’ll get when all’s said and done!

Good luck to everybody! Call your guesses in to Carol at extension 237. If we have a tie, names will go in a hat to determine the winner and of course if there are any family members employed they are excluded from guessing, sorry!

Cold and Flu season will be here soon

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

The cold and flu season will be here soon.  Here are a few tips to help you avoid the flu or a cold…..

  1. Did you know that touching a contaminated object and then rubbing your nose or eyes is typically how you catch a cold.  These viruses can live on surfaces for up to 24 hours.  The flu, on the other hand, is transmitted by droplets of a sick person’s sneeze or cough.
  1. Did you know only 16% of people spend a full 20 seconds washing their hands (the amount of time needed to remove all germs) after using the bathroom?
  1. Avoid close contact with people who have the Flu.  Droplets in a sneeze and cough can travel up to 6 feet.
  1. Did you know that pushing an elevator button is more likely to make you sick than kissing your under-the-weather husband, wife or child. Because if someone sneezes into his hand before hitting the button, the virus-ridden fluid from his nose awaits you.  Saliva, however, contains little, if any, cold viruses.

Here are some other places you might want to think about being careful in the upcoming flu season:

  • At the grocery store: Think how many hands have used that cart.
  • Using cashier pens:  We all use the pen to sign forms….carry your own pen.
  • At the ATM:  Press all buttons with a finger or knuckle that you’re unlikely to use to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.  Better yet, use a key on your key ring or a pen from your pocket.

Washing your hands:  Unless the liquid hand soap in the public bathroom is in its own sealed bag, it’s likely a breeding ground for bacteria.  Rinse well with warm water and use your own hand sanitizer.
